Primary Chess Success
May has been a very busy month for all our Primary chess players. On Tuesday
16 May we hosted an Inter-School Chess Competition here at TCSoA. Twelve teams
entered from Dunning, Dunkeld, Craigclowan, Muckart, North Muirton and TCSoA.
Due to teams dropping out at short notice we entered four teams and, following
seven tough rounds, Auchterarder took First, Second and Third places! This is a
fantastic achievement - a very well done to all those who took part.

Week commencing 22 May saw the Grand Finale of our annual in-house Primary
Chess Tournament. This year’s was our largest tournament yet, with 64 children
from P3 up to P7 battling to become the 2017 champion. Three weeks of knockout
rounds and 66 games of chess later, Archie (P5) was declared the winner, with Ross
(P6) as the runner up.
Many thanks to all who took part, for making it such an exciting event!
