When this three-time Grammy Award winner looks back on her early days as a
violinist, the BSO figures prominently. Hilary Hahn’s first major orchestra appearance—
at age 12 in December 1991—was at the Meyerhoff. “It was thrilling. I’d grown up
going to the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s concerts, sitting in the back row
of one of the highest balconies. . . . I couldn’t believe how vibrant the Orchestra
sounded, and I couldn’t believe I was actually on that stage.” Since then she
has made numerous appearances with the BSO as a world-renowned performer.
