Resounding Campaign Profiles Brown Challenge Report Year2

BSO OrchKids B rown C hallenge Update from the Commitee Chair Report Volume 2 December 2017 We are excited to share the second annual Brown Challenge Report. I am pleased to report that we met our $100,000 goal for Year Two early and have already begun raising funds for Year Three. To date, we have raised $205,785 to support the OrchKids program which is using the power of music to help transform the lives of Baltimore City’s most underserved students. This progress is entirely due to you and our community of supporters – you have stepped up to the Challenge and we THANK YOU! Stuart Simms Brown Challenge Committee Chair A brief recap of the Challenge: In early 2016, the Eddie C. and C. Sylvia Brown Family Foundation awarded a generous 5-year, $500,000 challenge grant to the OrchKids program at the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO). The terms of the grant stipulate that the BSO and OrchKids must raise $100,000 annually through December 2020 from the African-American community; with the goal to raise $1,000,000 in total at the conclusion of the pledge period. Here are some highlights from Year Two: – Met $100,000 goal 3 months ahead of schedule! – 44 New Donors (23 donors in Year One) – a 91% increase ! – 9 Renewal gifts Year Three statistics – $5,785 raised to date – $94,215 remaining to be raised before 12/31/18 – 1 Renewal gift! We want to expand our Brown Challenge community even more. Our goal for Year Three will be to grow our donor base by 100%. I know we can do this, but not without your participation. If each of you brings in just one new friend, we will meet this goal! I would encourage you to invite someone to an OrchKids performance or bring them for a tour of the program so they may see, first-hand, the impact of this transformative program. Sincerely, Stuart Simms Brown Challenge C ommittee C hair
