NIÑO RELATED STORMS
TEST CITY’S WINTER
PREPARATION PLANS
UPCOMING MEETINGS
L
The first round of El-Niño related storms to
pound the region earlier this month provided City
personnel the opportunity to
put into action winter storm
preparation plans that have
been months in the making.
As heavy rain soaked much
of Laguna Niguel, City crews
mobilized and patrolled the City cleaning up debris
from sidewalks and streets, and ensuring catch
basins and storm drains remained clear. Free
sandbags were made available to those in need at
each of the City’s three fire stations and sand was
available at the City’s Pooch Park.
The City’s emergency response personnel and
communications staff monitored conditions
throughout the storms and worked with local and
county agencies to keep abreast of current
conditions. Information on the storms, as it related to
Laguna Niguel, was made available to the residents
on the City’s website and social media accounts, and
through personal interaction with City Hall staff.
