CENTER FOR Teachin EXCELLENCE Eastern Florida State College SUPPORTING AND SERVING EFSC FACULTY Florida Today Corporate 5K Race Celebrate at the largest outdoor office party in the county! Put together an EFSC team and have a great time with co-workers, family and friends. The race will be held on April 18, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. at the Orlando Melbourne International Airport (1 Air Terminal Parkway, Melbourne, FL 32901). The Running Zone Foundation has partnered with Orlando Melbourne International Airport for Florida Today Corporate 5K 2019. The current rate per team member for this event is $25 through April 9. It jumps to $30 if registering after that date. The proceeds will benefit United Way (http://brevardcorporate5k.com/beneficiary/ ). There will be food trucks and free beer. For two of the past three years, EFSC has won the largest company team growth for our employee number bracket. Last year, the college had 23 participants. New Places/New Spaces EFSC INITIATIVES STUDENT UNION ON THE MELBOURNE CAMPUS Learn more about Motivation From A Self-Determination Viewpoint on pg. 3, and read about motivation with an in- depth analysis by Dr. Andrew Dutra. The new EFSC Student Union on the Melbourne Campus houses student services, food vendors, computer stations, an area for video games, and a pool table. The 32,000 square foot facility has a variety of offices, including the Melbourne Student Government Association, as well as spaces for meetings and activities. There is a multi-purpose room on the second floor that is available for campus events. In addition, faculty may wish to reserve one of the conference rooms in the new facility. ASSESSMENT CENTER ON THE PALM BAY CAMPUS On the Palm Bay campus, the new Assessment Center opened on February 4. Located in Building 2, Room 235, the Center offers a variety of testing services. Hours of operation are 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. For more information, contact Kathryn Morgan (433-5938) or Gay Withers (433-5876).
